Grand Canyon entrance fee 2026
The standard fee is valid for 7 days. A private vehicle pays $35 including its occupants. A motorcycle pays $30, and the rate covers up to 2 private motorcycles with 4 riders in total. On foot or by bike, each person aged 16 and over pays $20. Children under 16 enter without an individual pass. Commercial groups have different rules.
General entry needs no reservation and no timed-entry ticket. The entrance stations take cards only, with no cash, and the fee is not refunded for bad weather. Tours, lodging and special programs are booked and paid separately.

Day tours, bus tours and jeep tours to the South Rim, with live prices and availability. Check whether the park entrance fee, and the surcharge for visitors who do not live in the US, are included.
Extra fee for visitors who do not live in the US
New in 2026. The wording "non-US citizens" is not exact: what counts is where you live and the proof you can show.
$100 per person
Since 1 January 2026, each person aged 16 and over who does not live in the US pays $100 at the Grand Canyon, on top of the standard fee. The same rule applies at 10 other busy national parks.
A pass can cover it
A valid annual or interagency pass also covers the surcharge for the group it allows. Older valid passes are accepted under their own terms.
Proof of residence
The resident pass needs proof, such as a US passport, a US state driver's licence or ID, or a Permanent Resident Card. Digital passes are checked together with a photo ID.
Fee-free days
Since 2026, the fee-free days apply only to US residents.
America the Beautiful pass and the park pass
2026 prices. Only the passes that matter for a Grand Canyon visit.
| Pass | Who can buy it | Price | What it covers |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grand Canyon annual park pass | US citizens and residents (currently offered only to them) | $70 | One private vehicle with passengers, valid 1 year from the month of purchase, not transferable |
| America the Beautiful, US residents | People who live in the US, with proof | $80 | โ |
| America the Beautiful, nonresidents | People who do not live in the US | $250 | One private vehicle or 2 motorcycles; at per-person sites, the passholder plus 3 adults; also the $100 surcharge for that group |
Senior, military, access and fourth-grader passes exist, but they do not apply to every foreign senior or child. Ask at the gate or check the pass terms before you rely on a discount.
For most visitors from abroad, the maths is simple. A car with two adults who do not live in the US pays $35 plus 2 times $100, which is $235 for one visit. With three or more adults, or with more national parks on the same trip, the $250 nonresident pass costs less, provided it covers your group.
What entry includes, and what a tour price may leave out
"Entry included" on a tour page does not always mean the surcharge is included.
| Product example | Park entry | Surcharge for visitors who do not live in the US |
|---|---|---|
| Bus day tour from Las Vegas with lunch | Regular park entry included | Excluded |
| Sunset tour from Sedona or Flagstaff | Regular park entry included | Check before you book |
| Jeep tour on Desert View Drive | Covers the tour only; a later visit of your own needs a pass | Check before you book |
If the product page does not name the surcharge, treat it as not included and plan for $100 per person aged 16 and over. Day trips from Las Vegas are covered on the Las Vegas page, other tours on the tours page.
Opening hours of the South Rim
The park never closes, but the buildings have hours. Autumn 2026; they change by season.
| Place | Hours |
|---|---|
| South Rim entrances | 24 hours a day, 365 days a year |
| Grand Canyon Visitor Center | Daily 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; outdoor information outside building hours |
| Verkamp's Visitor Center | Daily 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. |
| Yavapai Geology Museum | Daily 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. |
| Desert View Watchtower (View Room and park store) | Daily 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. |
The upper floors of the Desert View Watchtower follow their own rules, with a free timed ticket on site. See the Desert View Watchtower page and the status page for closures.
Grand Canyon entrance fee: frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to enter the Grand Canyon in 2026?
$35 per private vehicle including its occupants, $30 per motorcycle and $20 per person on foot or by bike, each valid for 7 days. Visitors who do not live in the US pay an extra $100 per person aged 16 and over unless a pass covers it.
Do I need a reservation to enter?
No. There is no reservation and no timed entry for general park entry. Tours and lodging are booked separately.
Are children free?
Children under 16 do not need an individual entry pass when entering on foot or by bike, and the vehicle fee includes the occupants of a private car. The $100 surcharge applies from age 16.
Can I pay in cash?
No. The entrance stations accept cards only. The fee is not refunded because of weather.
Does a tour price include the entrance fee?
Some do, some do not. The examples above include regular park entry on bus and sunset tours, but a jeep tour covers entry for the tour only. A tour that includes entry may still leave out the surcharge for visitors who do not live in the US.
Is grandcanyonsouthrim.org the official source for fees?
No. This is an independent guide with no connection to the National Park Service. Fees apply for 2026 and can change, so confirm the current rates with the National Park Service before you travel.
